LTO orders truck driver, owner to explain reckless driving on SLEx

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show-cause order against the driver and registered owner of an Isuzu Forward truck for alleged reckless driving on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx).

A viral video showed the truck driving in the inner lane on December 26, a violation as this lane is off-limits to trucks, and dangerously tailgating a private vehicle.

The truck driver was also reportedly honking excessively and nearly collided with the smaller vehicle, causing it to swerve.

In response, the LTO imposed a 90-day preventive suspension on the truck driver's license and placed the truck under an LTO alarm.

The owner and driver are summoned to the LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division on January 8, 2026, to explain their actions and why they should not be held liable for reckless driving, disregarding traffic signs, and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

Failure to appear or submit an explanation will result in the case being resolved based on available evidence, according to LTO chief and Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao.
