LTFRB opens new bus routes to serve commuters

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) launched two city bus routes on June 2 to serve commuters from Bulacan and Cavite, specifically Route 5 from Angat, Bulacan to Quezon Avenue in Quezon City, and Route 28 from Dasmariñas, Cavite to Pasay City, before stationing at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

Additionally, at least six more city bus routes are set to open on Friday, June 5, and Monday, June 8, to transport more employees and workers under the general community quarantine (GCQ).

The routes opening on Friday include Monumento to Balagtas, Bulacan; EDSA to Montalban, Rizal; and the NAIA Loop.

Routes operational by Monday are Monumento to Valenzuela gateway complex; Gilmore to Taytay, Rizal; and Monumento to San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

The LTFRB is meeting with bus operators to determine the number of units to be deployed for these new routes.

These additions are part of a gradual approach to resuming public transport operations in Metro Manila, aiming to address the issue of stranded commuters.
