LTFRB encourages firms to hire PUVs for employee shuttles

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is encouraging private companies to hire public utility vehicles (PUVs) as shuttle services for their employees during the MECQ period.

This initiative aims to provide transportation for workers affected by the suspension of public transportation in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Companies can hire PUVs such as buses, UV Express units, and modern or traditional jeepneys to transport their employees.

No special permit is required for PUVs used as shuttle services.

However, drivers will be required to secure a certificate or authorization letter or a letter of intent from the company stating the route of the vehicle as proof that the PUV is being utilized as a shuttle service.

This measure is intended to help PUV drivers earn amid the temporary suspension of their operations.

The LTFRB will provide a list of operators and their contact numbers to assist companies in securing shuttle services.
