A cloud cluster east of Luzon has developed into a low-pressure area (LPA), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The LPA was last observed 575 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11.
If it intensifies into a tropical depression, it will be locally named "Dodong."
The LPA's trough is expected to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
The combined effects of the LPA's trough and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over northern Palawan, Calamian, Cuyo, Kalayaan Islands, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to intermittent heavy rainfall in affected areas.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
