Locsin assures safety of Filipinos in Ukraine

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. assured that no Filipinos in Ukraine will come to harm amidst reports of an imminent Russian invasion.

He personally committed to overseeing the safety of Filipinos and plans to facilitate their safe passage out of Ukraine.

Locsin stated that a land journey to the nearest border would be the most probable evacuation route, expecting assistance from American forces.

The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw is monitoring around 380 Filipinos residing in Ukraine, with the majority located in Kyiv, away from the eastern border.

The embassy has contacted nearly 400 Filipinos in Ukraine and urged them to report any incidents immediately.

Locsin mentioned that after his engagements in Cambodia and the ASEAN-EU meeting in Paris, he would be close enough to Ukraine to help effect their safe passage out.
