Lacson to chair Senate Blue Ribbon Committee

Senator Panfilo Lacson will chair the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, replacing Senator Rodante Marcoleta.

Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III stated Marcoleta's removal was due to his affiliation not being with the majority bloc.

Senator Risa Hontiveros was also considered for the chairmanship but declined the position.

The leadership change occurs amidst a probe into anomalous government flood control projects.

Lawrence Lubiano, president of Centerways Construction and Development Incorporated, a firm linked to flood control projects, was a top campaign donor to former Senate President Chiz Escudero.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. identified Lubiano's firm as one of 15 contractors who cornered multi-billion-peso contracts nationwide in the last three years.
