Lacson, Sotto firm on 2022 plans despite Duterte's VP bid

Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III remain unfazed by President Rodrigo Duterte's decision to run for vice president in the 2022 elections and are firm in their own plans to seek higher office.

President Duterte has accepted his party's nomination to contend for the vice presidency in Eleksyon 2022.

Sotto affirmed his intention to still pursue the vice presidency, stating that Duterte's decision does not affect his resolve.

Lacson also reiterated his commitment to run for president, emphasizing that there is no turning back on their tandem's decision to join the presidential and vice-presidential race.

Lacson expressed hope that voters will not be swayed by entertainment politics, fear, or intimidation when choosing leaders, and that the campaign will focus on issues related to good governance.

The formal launch of Lacson and Sotto's tandem was postponed due to the surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant.
