La Salle forces do-or-die match vs UST in V-League

De La Salle University forced a do-or-die match for a finals berth in the 2024 V-League Men's Collegiate Challenge by defeating University of Santo Tomas in Game 2 of their semifinals series.

The Green Spikers secured a straight-sets victory with scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-23, tying the best-of-3 semifinals series at one game apiece.

Joshua Magalaman led La Salle's offense with a game-high 13 points, supported by Chris Hernandez with 11 points and Glen Ventura with nine markers.

Despite the absence of Noel Kampton, La Salle received significant contributions from Yoyong Mendoza and Erc Layug, who both scored six points.

Jerico Adajar efficiently managed the team's offense with 14 excellent sets and also contributed four points and 10 digs, while team captain Menard Guerrero anchored the defense with 12 digs and 10 receptions.

La Salle's head coach Jose Roque expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, highlighting their ability to overcome previous mistakes and bounce back from their Game 1 loss.

The decisive Game 3 between La Salle and UST will determine who advances to face Far Eastern University in the championship, with game time set for 4 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.

Coach Roque emphasized the importance of focus and discipline in their game plan and stressed the need for the team to "stay hungrier".
