Kristine death toll hits 81, over 4M affected

The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has reached 81, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), though the figures are still subject to validation.

Calabarzon recorded the highest number of fatalities with 48, including those who died in a landslide in Talisay City, Batangas.

The Bicol Region followed with 28 deaths, and other fatalities were reported in CAR, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The number of missing persons has risen to 34, with most believed to be victims of landslides.

Damage to agriculture and infrastructure sectors is estimated at P291.5 million, with P203 million attributed to 98 infrastructure projects.

A total of 4,207,387 individuals or 986,974 families across 16 regions were affected by the storm.

Around 495,000 individuals or 132,000 families were displaced and stayed in evacuation centers or with relatives.
