KOJC members accused of lasering PNP choppers during Quiboloy arrest op

Members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) allegedly aimed laser devices at Philippine National Police (PNP) helicopters during the operation to arrest their leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Police Major Catherine dela Rey, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11), described the act as a direct threat to aviation safety and law enforcement operations.

The PNP condemned the actions, stating that using lasers against aircraft violates aviation safety regulations and legal standards.

Chief PNP General Rommel Marbil was reportedly on board one of the choppers conducting an aerial survey over the KOJC compound.

PRO 11 urged KOJC members to cease such activities, emphasizing that the PNP is performing its duty and obstruction will not be beneficial.

A total of 29 KOJC members are facing complaints following an incident where 60 police officers were injured while attempting to serve arrest warrants for Quiboloy.

However, KOJC's legal counsel Atty. Israelito Torreon stated that the PNP needs to prove whether the lasers originated from KOJC members, noting the presence of many other individuals and police within the compound.
