Kitty Duterte asks SC to speed up case for PRRD's return

Veronica "Kitty" Duterte, through her lawyers, has urged the Supreme Court to resolve her pending petition for the immediate return of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The younger Duterte's lawyer, Salvador Paolo Panelo, Jr., filed an urgent motion to expedite the resolution and to compel Philippine government officials to facilitate the former President's return.

The motion emphasizes the severe repercussions of the Supreme Court's ongoing inaction regarding petitions against the arrest and transfer of former President Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Lawyers highlighted concerns that a repeat of the former President's March 11 transfer to the ICC could occur, especially following reports of an arrest warrant issued against Senator Ronald Dela Rosa.

The motion seeks to prevent further decline in the former President's health or his undignified death while in foreign custody.

It also aims to hold accountable those responsible for the alleged illegal abduction and surrender of the former President to the ICC.

Furthermore, the motion intends to prevent future violations of liberty without due process, citing the imminent threat of similar actions against Senator Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa.
