Kira Ellis wins Europe Junior Women Cup in Riga

National mainstay Kira Ellis dominated the 2025 Europe Triathlon Junior Women Cup held in Riga, Latvia, showcasing her exceptional talent on the international stage.

Ellis finished the grueling 750m swim, 22km bike, and 5.1km run with a time of one hour, five minutes, and seven seconds, outperforming 15 other athletes from 10 different countries.

She secured her victory by breaking away from competitors during the run segment, ultimately beating Luca Vanderbruggen of Belgium and Sarah Walter of Germany.

This triumph marks a strong comeback for the 18-year-old after recovering from a shin injury, aided by a high-performance training camp in Portugal funded by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The Triathlon Association of the Philippines hailed Ellis's win as a significant achievement for the sport in the country.

Ellis, a gold medalist in aquathlon at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, is set to be a key athlete for the Philippines in the upcoming regional biennial event in Thailand this December.

Her previous victories include the 2024 Asia Triathlon Junior Cup, further cementing her status as a promising athlete for future international competitions.
