Kevin Quiambao trains in Sacramento for NBA Summer League shot

Filipino basketball player Kevin Quiambao is in Sacramento, California, to train and pursue his NBA aspirations, aiming for a spot on an NBA Summer League roster.

The 24-year-old forward is coming off a stellar rookie season in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) with the Goyang Sono Skygunners, where he averaged 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

He is training under the guidance of Jimmy Alapag, a former PBA legend now serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the Kings.

Quiambao's training includes practicing at the College Prep Academy gym and playing pickup games against other hopefuls.

Although under contract with the Skygunners, the Goyang management has given Quiambao their approval to pursue his NBA tryout.

No team has yet expressed interest in signing Quiambao, but he is making good progress and is gifted with a 6-foot-4 frame, feathery touch from the outside and smooth handles.

Quiambao hopes to get an opportunity to play in the NBA Summer League, which commences on July 11 at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
