Alas scores 26 points in NLEX victory over Phoenix

Kevin Alas led NLEX to an 87-81 victory over Phoenix in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup with 26 points, a performance that may signify his return to full form after a third ACL injury.

Despite building a 20-point lead in the third quarter, NLEX had to hold off a late Phoenix comeback, with Alas' crucial basket and Robert Bolick's free throws sealing the win.

Bolick contributed nine points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and two steals, while JB Bahio and Anthony Semerad added 11 points each.

Ricci Rivero led Phoenix with 22 points, and Jason Perkins added 15.

The win improved NLEX's record to 2-1, placing them among the leaders in the standings, while Phoenix slipped to 1-2.

This was Alas' highest scoring output since the 2022-23 season, and he expressed personal goals for the team to be a consistent playoff team and make the semifinals.
