K9 handler fired for animal cruelty, PAWS to file case

A K9 handler from Search and Secure Canine Training and Services International Inc. (SAS K9) has been terminated after a video surfaced showing him mistreating a service dog named Bingo at Meralco premises.

SAS K9 investigated the incident and terminated the handler immediately due to gross negligence and violation of their animal welfare protocols.

The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) intends to file a criminal case against the handler for animal cruelty.

PAWS is coordinating with Meralco and the video uploader, Nicole Andrea Espiritu, who will be the primary witness, to pursue legal action.

SAS K9 apologized for the incident and assured the public that firm and appropriate action has been taken, including a review of internal processes and additional handler retraining to prevent future occurrences.
