Juan Gomez de Liano makes PBA history with triple-double in debut

Juan Gomez de Liano made PBA history by recording a triple-double in his debut, scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to lead the Converge FiberXers to a 129-92 victory over the Titan Ultra Giant Risers.

He is the first local rookie in the PBA's 50-year history to achieve a triple-double in his debut game, and the first rookie to do so since Scottie Thompson nine years ago.

Converge's victory marked a new franchise record for winning margin and a successful coaching debut for Pampanga Vice-Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda.

Gomez de Liano was also named the PBA Press Corps' Player of the Week for October 5-12, his first time receiving the weekly citation.

Titan Ultra struggled in the absence of Calvin Abueva, who was sidelined early due to a hamstring injury, despite Joshua Munzon scoring 31 points.

Gomez de Liaño is a product of the University of the Philippines and has previously played professionally in Japan, Europe, and Korea.
