JRU survives Mapua, loses Lozano to injury

Jose Rizal University (JRU) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 66-63 victory over Mapua University in the NCAA Season 101 men's basketball tournament, improving their record to 4-4 in Group B.

The win was overshadowed by a serious injury to key player Justin Lozano, who fell awkwardly on his head and suffered seizures before being stretchered off the court.

Prior to his injury, Lozano contributed 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals.

Coach Nani Epondulan confirmed Lozano was awake and conscious after the game and was with the medical team in the ambulance.

The JRU team dedicated their victory to Lozano, using his absence as motivation.

Lozano is expected to miss time as he undergoes concussion protocols, but Epondulan remains hopeful others can step up.
