JRU survives LPU in thrilling double-OT win

Jose Rizal University (JRU) secured an exhilarating 88-87 double-overtime victory against Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) in the NCAA Season 99 men's basketball tournament.

The win snapped JRU's two-game losing skid and improved their standing to 5-3, while LPU dropped their third consecutive game after a 6-0 start.

Jonathan Medina scored the game-winning floater with 8.2 seconds remaining after grabbing an offensive rebound.

Joshua Guiab led JRU with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Agem Miranda and Marwin Dionisio added 14 points each.

Enoch Valdez led LPU with 24 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out in the first overtime, while JM Bravo posted 20 points and 10 rebounds.

JRU had a six-point lead in regulation but allowed LPU to force overtime.

LPU had a chance to win after Jearlan Omandac split his charities to put them up 87-86 with under 20 seconds left, but Medina ultimately scored the winning basket.
