JJASGH stops accepting non-COVID obstetrics patients due to overcapacity

The Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) in Manila has temporarily stopped accepting non-coronavirus obstetrics patients due to overcapacity.

The hospital's occupancy rate for birthing beds reached 233%, significantly exceeding its capacity.

As of Monday, August 10, 2020, six pregnant women were awaiting cesarean sections with only one operating room available for non-COVID patients.

The hospital's recovery room, with a capacity of eight, was accommodating 31 patients.

To alleviate the situation, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that adjacent hospitals, such as Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, are augmenting JJASGH.

JJASGH will announce when its delivery facilities will reopen and continues to serve as a walk-in COVID-19 testing site.
