JGFP holds Northern Luzon Junior Open, launches training program

The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) will host the Northern Luzon Junior Open, part of the "Baguio Classic," on May 16 at Camp John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City, with approximately 50 participants aged 6 to 18 expected.

This event is designed to identify and develop young golf talent from the region, serving as a prelude to a training camp led by top junior golfer Rianne Malixi.

Malixi, in collaboration with JGFP, will also launch "The Big Leap" training program at Northwoods Golf and Country Club from May 20 to 22, aiming to cultivate world-class potential in young golfers.

The training camp will feature golf mentors including June Cedo, Hanson So, Willie Panganiban, Venjo Reyes, and Aileeen Yao, alongside resource speakers on strength and conditioning, etiquette, nutrition, and sports psychology.

Dr. Joann Tan, a sports nutritionist and managing director of John Hay Golf, will also provide guidance on performance nutrition and recovery as part of the training camp.
