Jessica Soho fears persistent corruption, economic woes could spiral country down

Veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho identified the Philippines' persistent corruption and recurring political and economic problems as her greatest fears.

During a press conference for "KMJS' Gabi ng Lagim The Movie," Soho expressed concern about the nation's potential inability to overcome these societal issues, describing it as a 'downward spiral.'

She noted that corrupt individuals can easily escape with stolen wealth, while ordinary Filipinos struggle daily to survive and contribute to the country.

Soho highlighted her dismay at covering the same corruption issues since the 1980s, lamenting that these problems have seemingly "recycled" and worsened over time.

She fears that the Philippines' negative reputation could deter investors, lead to capital flight, and cause the economy to collapse, echoing past crises.

Having witnessed these issues persist throughout her long career, Soho hopes for genuine change rather than a "round two" of past economic hardships.
