Japan gives P215M for typhoon recovery in Visayas, Mindanao

Japan has allocated USD4.2 million (P215 million) through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to support the recovery of areas devastated by Typhoon Odette in the Visayas and Mindanao.

This aid is part of Japan's larger P663-million disaster relief assistance to the Philippines.

The project will provide shelter repair kits to over 2,400 households and offer training on Build Back Safer construction techniques to 3,682 community members.

It will also include camp coordination and management assistance to internally displaced persons and support for mobile health clinics.

The initiative includes the provision of emergency medical equipment to four health facilities and is expected to benefit more than 64,000 individuals.

Japanese Ambassador Koshikawa Kazuhiko expressed hope that the project will help ease the burden of the affected families.
