James Payosing named NCAA Season 99 Finals MVP

James Payosing was named the NCAA Season 99 Finals MVP after leading San Beda to a championship victory over Mapua.

He averaged 9.7 points and 12.0 rebounds in the three-game finals series, a significant increase from his elimination round averages.

Payosing delivered a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds in the decisive Game 3, where San Beda won 76-66.

Despite his crucial offensive contributions, Payosing expressed surprise at the award, as his primary role throughout the season was defense.

San Beda head coach Yuri Escueta was not surprised by Payosing's performance and recognition, citing his consistent hard work and perseverance.

Payosing revealed that he had zero knowledge of organized basketball when he first arrived in Manila.
