Jacob Cortez named Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week

Jacob Cortez was named the Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week for November 21-24, capping San Beda's strong finish to the elimination round.

Cortez averaged 16.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals in San Beda's recent wins against Lyceum and Letran.

He was instrumental in the Red Lions' 77-68 victory over rival Letran, scoring 17 points and making crucial baskets in the final minutes.

Cortez also delivered a strong performance in their 74-56 win against Lyceum, contributing 16 points, including key late-game scoring, with seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

San Beda concluded the elimination round with a 12-6 record, securing the third seed in the Final Four and entering the playoffs on a four-game winning streak.

Coach Yuri Escueta highlighted Cortez's growth and maturity throughout the season.

Jomel Puno and Clifford Jopia also provided offensive support for San Beda, scoring 15 and 11 points respectively against Letran.

Letran finished their season with a 2-16 record, with Kobe Monje scoring 17 points and Deo Cuajao adding 15.
