Ivan Panapanaan buzzer-beater gives JRU 79-77 win over Arellano

Ivan Panapanaan sank the game-winning layup at the buzzer, securing a thrilling 79-77 victory for Jose Rizal University (JRU) over Arellano University in the NCAA Season 101.

The crucial play originated from a defensive stop, a missed shot by Arellano's King Vinoya, followed by a rebound and a swift pass to a streaking Sean Salvador, who found an open Panapanaan for the final basket.

JRU coach Nani Epondulan expressed gratitude for his team's unwavering belief in their ability to find a way to win until the very end.

This victory places the JRU Bombers in a tie for the third spot in Group B with a 5-4 win-loss record, alongside the Letran Knights.

The top three teams from each group automatically advance to the quarterfinals, while the fourth and fifth-ranked teams will compete for the remaining quarterfinal berths.

Shawn Argente led the Bombers' scoring with 21 points, significantly contributing to the win, alongside strong performances from Sean Salvador (19 points), Allan Laurenaria (12 points), and Stephen Garufil (10 points).
