Isabela placed under state of calamity due to Ulysses flooding

The province of Isabela has been declared under a state of calamity following severe flooding caused by Typhoon Ulysses.

Governor Rodito Albano confirmed the declaration, noting that floodwaters in many towns reached the roofs of houses, isolating numerous barangays.

Vice Governor Faustino Dy stated that the town of Sto. Tomas and several barangays in Ilagan, Tumauini, San Pablo, and Delfin Albano remain isolated.

Dy explained that the northern portion of Isabela acts as a catch basin, causing floodwaters from various parts of the province to accumulate there.

Some bridges under construction were also submerged.

No casualties have been reported in the province thus far.

The declaration allows the provincial government to utilize its calamity funds to aid affected residents.
