Ipo Dam releases water amid Ulysses threat

PAGASA warned residents in low-lying areas of Bulacan to be vigilant due to rising water levels at Ipo Dam caused by Typhoon Ulysses.

Ipo Dam management began an emergency spilling operation at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020, with a total discharge of 432.32 cubic meters per second.

The dam's water level reached 101.84 meters, exceeding its spilling level of 101 meters.

Residents living near the Angat riverbank and in low-lying communities, including Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel, and Hagonoy, are advised to prepare for potential flooding or flashfloods.

The dam management will continue to monitor the hydrological condition as Typhoon Ulysses is expected to traverse Central Luzon.
