The Philippine government has deported Indian fugitive Joginder Gyong, also known as Gupta Kant, who was arrested in Bacolod City last July.
Gyong, who is wanted in India for at least 26 criminal cases including murder, attempted murder, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, drug and firearms smuggling, money laundering and terrorism, was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration's Fugitive Search Unit.
He departed Manila on February 1, transiting through Bangkok, Thailand, before arriving in New Delhi where Indian authorities, alerted by an Interpol red notice, immediately took him into custody.
Gyong is also accused of illegally procuring firearms, orchestrating contract killings, and leading a vast extortion network that preyed on businessmen and professionals.
He fled to the Philippines using a fraudulently acquired Nepalese passport under the name Kant Gupta.
This deportation aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s policy against transnational crimes and highlights the Philippines' dedication to international security.
The BI also expelled 26 other foreigners, including 23 Chinese and three Malaysians, who were arrested in January 2025 for immigration offenses.
