A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that an impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte is not a top priority for Filipino voters, despite a majority considering it a key issue.
The survey, conducted from February 15 to 19 and commissioned by the Stratbase Group, indicated that only 53 percent of respondents would vote for a candidate advocating for a fair trial for Duterte.
This issue ranked lowest among the 15 topics presented to the respondents.
Instead, issues such as agriculture, health care, employment, and education emerged as the primary considerations for most voters.
A significant 90 percent of respondents expressed support for candidates who champion agricultural development and food security, as well as those committed to strengthening the national healthcare system.
Other crucial concerns for voters included increasing job opportunities (89 percent), ensuring equal access to education (89 percent), promoting workers' rights and welfare (88 percent), poverty and hunger reduction (83 percent), and addressing inflation (81 percent).
The survey also highlighted voter interest in climate change (79 percent), national security and sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (77 percent), illegal drugs (77 percent), and energy security and renewable energy use (75 percent).
