Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan dies from accidental shooting

Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan, 49, died on December 31, 2025, after an accidental shooting involving her own Tanfoglio .9mm pistol.

The incident occurred on December 30, 2025, while she was handling the firearm near her residence in the La Paz district of Iloilo City.

Lamasan was preparing her belongings when she accidentally pulled the trigger while attempting to place the gun in a safety box, sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

She was rushed to St. Paul's Hospital where she underwent two surgeries and passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

Dueñas Mayor Robert Martin Pama confirmed Lamasan's death, expressing his grief and calling her his sister and vice mayor.

Police were notified of the incident by hospital personnel the following morning.
