Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has reimposed travel restrictions at the provincial borders of Capiz, Antique, and Negros Occidental from July 1 to July 15.
These restrictions are part of the province's measures to enforce a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
Under the executive order, only residents of the 42 towns, component city of Passi, Iloilo City, and Guimaras province can still enter Iloilo only until July 3.
Residents who fail to re-enter by July 3 will be considered locally stranded individuals (LSIs).
Defensor stated that the province is reacting to a developing situation and is not yet secure with the regulation of travelling persons outside its borders, citing rising COVID-19 cases among LSIs and transient workers.
Exemptions are granted to government officials, health personnel, individuals traveling for humanitarian purposes, those with prior clearance, persons traveling non-stop to and from the airport for international travel, and organized OFWs.
The governor also directed the Iloilo Police Provincial Office to strengthen checkpoints for incoming trucks transporting basic goods.
