Iloilo City prepares universities as COVID-19 vaccine centers

Major universities and schools in Iloilo City are being prepared as vaccination centers for the anticipated arrival of COVID-19 vaccines.

West Visayas State University, University of San Agustin, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, and Ateneo de Iloilo have been designated as vaccination sites.

The Iloilo City local government aims to complete the vaccination process for each individual in 10 to 15 minutes.

A recent vaccine simulation exercise involving 500 participants and 150 volunteer health workers was conducted at Central Philippine University, using flu vaccines.

Further simulation exercises are planned for the University of San Agustin, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, and Ateneo de Iloilo.

Iloilo City has procured 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, with expected arrival in July.

A special vaccination process for senior citizens and persons with disabilities is being considered, possibly with pre-registration.
