The International Criminal Court (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber I has set a timeline for the disclosure of evidence in the case involving former President Rodrigo Duterte.
ICC prosecutor Karim Khan confirmed that "181 items" of evidence, classified as "confidential" and disclosed inter pares or between parties, have been provided to the defense.
These items comprise the material cited in the warrant of arrest against Duterte, with the exception of those notified to the Chamber and Defense under regulation 35.
The prosecution must provide detailed observations on documentary evidence, exculpatory evidence, and witnesses by April 4, 2025.
The defense team has until April 11, 2025, to submit their observations on the prosecution's disclosures.
The confirmation of charges hearing is scheduled for September 23, 2025.
The ICC said material submitted by the Prosecution showed there are "reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Duterte is individually responsible as an indirect co-perpetrator for the crime against humanity of murder, allegedly committed in the Philippines between 1 November 2011 and 16 March 2019."
The warrant of arrest against Mr Duterte was issued by the Chamber as "Secret" on 7 March 2025 and reclassified as "Public" on 11 March 2025.
