PH swimming gets IATF nod for hosting of national selection meet
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has approved the Philippines' hosting of the 2021 Swimming National Selection Meet.
The national selection meet will be held from August 28 to 30 at the New Clark City Aquatics Center in Capas, Tarlac.
Delegates participating in the meet will be classified as Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) and permitted interzonal travel.
Philippine Swimming Incorporated President Lailani Velasco stated that the goal is to select the best team for the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi and to help athletes regain competitive shape.
The IATF-EID has also permitted athletes bound for the Tokyo Olympics and the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to resume their training in a bubble-type setup.
The PSI secured the IATF approval through collaboration with Vince Dizon, Bases Conversion and Development Authority President, Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Butch Ramirez, and Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Tolentino.
