IATF allows DTI to reclassify businesses for gradual reopening

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has directed the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to reclassify certain business industries to allow the resumption of operations or a gradual increase in operating capacity, particularly in areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

The DTI is also authorized to issue a negative list of industries that will remain prohibited even under MGCQ.

This decision aims to revive the economies of Metro Manila and Region IV-A (Calabarzon).

The IATF-EID has also allowed the DTI, in consultation with the Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Tourism (DOT), to recategorize these industries.

These actions are in compliance with the directive to increase the capacities of the business sector, considering available transportation, to revitalize the economy in Metro Manila and Region IV-A.
