HPG to secure cargo vehicles during ECQ

The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) has been tasked by the Joint Task Force Corona Virus Shield (JTF CV Shield) to secure cargo vehicles carrying food and basic necessities to ensure their unimpeded movement during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

The move, approved by PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, aims to prevent unnecessary delays in the delivery of essential goods.

HPG personnel will establish Dedicated Control Points (DCPs) in strategic areas across Luzon, which will be the sole points for inspecting cargo vehicles.

Cargo vehicles, including trucks, vans, pick-ups, and jeepneys, will no longer be flagged down or checked at existing Quarantine Control Points (QCPs).

These DCPs can be set up at existing QCPs or in other strategic locations identified by the HPG.

The inspections at DCPs will only be conducted if deemed necessary, preventing redundant checks.

Initially, DCPs will be implemented in Luzon, with plans to expand to the Visayas and Mindanao.
