House summons 45 hospitals over PhilHealth fraud

House committees investigating PhilHealth have summoned officials from 45 hospitals implicated in fraud cases with the state health insurer.

These pending cases span from 2013 to 2018, with Representative Michael Defensor stating the intention to understand the nature and methods of fraud.

The hospitals are expected to testify before the House Committee on Public Accounts and Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

Representative Defensor suggested that fraud is often committed in collusion with hospitals, citing an example of potentially waiving x-ray requirements for pneumonia cases.

The Tamparan Medical Foundation in Lanao del Sur has the highest number of pending cases with 431, followed by Butuan Doctors Hospital and College with 226.

Other hospitals with significant pending cases include Baguio General Hospital (129), Fabiola Gabriel Center (99), and Notre Dame de Charles Hospital (91).
