House Speaker Romualdez assures public 2026 budget of P6.793T is transparent

House Speaker Martin Romualdez assured the public that the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026, recently approved by the bicameral conference committee, contains no "insertions" and underwent a transparent process.

Romualdez highlighted that the bicameral deliberations for the 2026 budget were conducted openly, a first in the country's history.

He praised the House bicameral panel, led by Appropriations Committee Chairperson Rep. Mylene Garcia-Syjuco, for their diligence in completing the budget process.

The Speaker emphasized that the approved budget is trustworthy, was not rushed, and was made accessible to public scrutiny.

He further described the budget as historic, reflecting clear priorities, nationalistic sentiment, an understanding of the people's realities, and genuine compassion.

The bicameral conference committee concluded its four-day deliberations on the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2026 early Thursday morning.
