Hontiveros clarifies SC ruling remarks

Senator Risa Hontiveros clarified that her previous statement regarding the Supreme Court's (SC) ruling on the League of Cities case was not entirely accurate, acknowledging that several decisions in that dispute were not unanimous.

The League of Cities of the Philippines vs. Commission on Elections case involved multiple SC reversals between 2008 and 2011.

Hontiveros made this clarification on Facebook after initially citing the case as an example of a unanimous decision that was later reversed.

She had raised this point during a Senate session on August 6, challenging Senator Rodante Marcoleta's assertion that such reversals of unanimous rulings had not occurred previously.

This discussion took place during the Senate's deliberation on archiving the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, following the SC's decision that declared it unconstitutional.
