Hidilyn Diaz to visit Paris Olympics to inspire PH athletes

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz is expected to arrive in Paris between August 3 and 4 to inspire Filipino athletes competing in the ongoing Games.

Diaz will be present in Paris as a member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Athletes Commission.

Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachmann stated that Diaz's presence will provide a significant morale boost, especially with the Philippine contingent having a good start in the Olympics.

Diaz, who inaugurated a weightlifting academy in the Philippines on July 26 for grassroots athletes, is considered the Philippines' golden girl for her breakthrough gold-medal feat in Tokyo 2021.

She missed a fifth Olympic appearance but may attend the competition hall during the events of John Febuar Ceniza on Aug. 7, Elreen Ando on Aug. 8, and Vanessa Sarno on Aug. 9.
