Gula steps up for UST Tigresses but falls short of championship

Xyza Gula demonstrated her readiness and capability for the UST Tigresses throughout the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament, stepping up significantly when needed.

Despite an ankle sprain affecting top scorer Angge Poyos, Gula delivered a team-high 18 points, along with 11 excellent receptions and 10 digs, showcasing her 'next-man-up' mentality.

Gula's strong performance, however, could not secure a championship for UST, as they ultimately finished as runners-up after a loss to NU in Game 2.

Gula expressed her motivation stemmed from playing for Angge and the dedicated UST community, acknowledging their collective effort despite the eventual shortfall.

Throughout the season, Gula proved her consistent ability to contribute offensively, even as the team's primary offense often focused on other starters like Poyos, Jonna Perdido, and Reg Jurado.

She attributed her significant role and performance to the team's dedicated hard work starting from the preseason.
