Grace Poe unsurprised by Ombudsman referral, denies kickback allegations

Former Senator Grace Poe stated that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure's (ICI) recommendation to refer the investigation against her to the Ombudsman was not surprising and confirmed the falsity of allegations made by former Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo.

Poe asserted that the ICI's recommendation signifies a lack of evidence to support any charges against her.

She expressed her commitment to cooperating with the Ombudsman's investigation to reveal the truth and hold responsible parties accountable.

The allegations against Poe stemmed from Bernardo's claims before the Senate blue ribbon hearing, alleging that she received a 20% commitment or kickback from DPWH projects.

Bernardo also claimed that a staff member of Poe inquired about accommodating the lawmaker in the DPWH NEP.

The ICI has referred Poe, former Sen. Nancy Binay, Sen. Francis Escudero, and Sen. Mark Villar to the Office of the Ombudsman for further investigation.
