OCD forms San Juanico Task Group to manage bridge operations

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has established the San Juanico Task Group (SJTG) to manage the security, safety, and operational coordination of the San Juanico Bridge.

This initiative was prompted by concerns over the bridge's structural integrity, leading to the imposition of a three-ton weight limit after engineers raised red flags about its load-bearing capacity.

The SJTG, with the OCD as the primary agency and chair, will focus on ensuring smooth traffic, security, and swift response operations on the bridge.

A Public Assistance Desk has been established on both ends of the bridge to streamline assistance and information dissemination.

Existing help desks and tents will be consolidated at the Mega Tent to improve support services and serve as a command post and central information hub.

To facilitate traffic, the DPWH will maintain its operational vehicle weighing station, and areas before the bridge will be cleared of obstructions, with security personnel enforcing these measures.
