Christian governors, MNLF supports holdover of BARMM leadership
Two provincial governors, Mujiv Hataman of Basilan and Mamintal Adiong Jr. of Lanao del Sur, have expressed support for the extended term of Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulrauf Macacua.
Cotabato Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza and South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., both Christian governors, have also pledged support for Macacua's continued leadership.
The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) also supports Macacua's holdover as chief minister, with its members and leaders expressing gladness over his continued role.
Macacua, who heads the MILF's Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, was appointed chief minister by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
His extended tenure follows the postponement of the BARMM parliamentary elections, originally scheduled for October 13, 2025, due to legal impediments.
