Globe moves 3,000 cell sites to renewable energy

Globe Telecom has begun transitioning over 3,000 cell sites and other low-energy facilities to renewable energy sources, aiming for completion by 2028.

This initiative is a significant step towards achieving Globe's net-zero carbon emissions goal.

The company is utilizing the government's Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) to facilitate this transition by allowing aggregated power demand to negotiate directly with electricity suppliers.

The shift to renewables is projected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 5.5 million kilograms annually and source 80 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from green sources each year.

Globe has previously implemented sustainable energy solutions in 33 high-energy utilization facilities, with many supported by power purchase agreements with ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions.
