Galvez Jr. to represent PH at global peace summit

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has appointed Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. to represent the Philippines at the upcoming Global Peace Summit in Switzerland.

Malacañang announced this on Tuesday, June 11, though no further details were provided regarding the President's absence.

This clarification follows an initial suggestion by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Marcos Jr. would attend the summit.

Zelenskyy visited Manila on June 3 and met with Marcos, thanking the Philippines for its support and recognition of Ukraine's sovereignty.

During Zelenskyy's visit, Marcos expressed willingness to send Filipino mental health workers to assist Ukraine.

The summit, scheduled for June 15-16, aims to find diplomatic solutions to the conflict, with Switzerland reporting 90 states and organizations confirmed to participate.
