Fuel prices hike for 8th straight week starting Feb 22

Motorists will face the eighth consecutive week of fuel price increases starting February 22, with gasoline prices rising by P0.80 per liter, diesel by P0.65 per liter, and kerosene by P0.45 per liter.

Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, Cleanfuel, PetroGazz, Seaoil, Chevron, and PTT Philippines are among the oil companies that have announced these price hikes.

This marks the eighth round of price increases since January, bringing the cumulative increase to P8.75 per liter for gasoline, P10.85 per liter for diesel, and P9.55 per liter for kerosene.

Current gasoline prices in Metro Manila range between P70 to over P75 per liter, while diesel prices are between P56 to P65 per liter.

The government can only offer selected subsidies to critical sectors, mainly public transport, as the oil industry is deregulated.
