Gilas Pilipinas adds 4 players to Asia Cup pool

Gilas Pilipinas has expanded its "long list" for the Fiba Asia Cup by adding RJ Abarrientos, Troy Rosario, Zavier Lucero, and Rhenz Abando, as confirmed by Coach Tim Cone.

These additions are part of a larger pool, with their final inclusion for the tournament not yet determined.

While Abarrientos and Rosario attended the initial practice, Lucero is currently in the US, and Abando is in Taiwan for the William Jones Cup.

Several key Gilas players, including Scottie Thompson and Japeth Aguilar, were present at the practice despite ongoing PBA commitments.

Overseas players Dwight Ramos and Carl Tamayo, along with Meralco's Chris Newsome, focused on individual training.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas is verifying Lucero's eligibility to play as a local player, as he has submitted the necessary documents.

The Fiba Asia Cup is scheduled to commence on August 5 in Saudi Arabia.
