Ex-Lagayan mayor shot dead outside home

Former Lagayan, Abra Mayor Jendricks Seares Luna, 54, was shot dead outside his home in Barangay Dangdangla, Bangued town, on Tuesday morning by four unidentified men on two motorcycles.

The suspects arrived at the kiosk outside Luna's residence and opened fire without warning at approximately 8:22 a.m.

Luna sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at Seares Memorial Hospital.

Police received the report eight minutes after the attack and have launched a manhunt.

Two abandoned motorcycles, possibly used by the suspects, were recovered in Barangay Cosili of the same municipality around noontime.

Luna, son of former representative Cecelia Seares Luna, had previously served as municipal mayor and recently lost a bid for a provincial board seat.
