Five nabbed for alleged P1M shoe theft; hacker masterminds sought

Five individuals have been apprehended for the alleged theft of over P1 million worth of shoes, which occurred after a delivery app was reportedly hacked.

The suspects, however, claim they were only tasked with transporting the shoe boxes.

A seller in Manila booked a truck through the app to transport 60 boxes of shoes to Pasay City.

The seller was later notified of a cancellation and a change in the intended drop-off location within the app.

Authorities recovered some of the stolen shoes valued at approximately P200,000, with the rest potentially already sold.

Among the arrested men is the alleged sibling of the hacker, and authorities are searching for the mastermind.

The suspects are facing charges of estafa in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
